On the cattle-esque studio audiences of the Daily Show & the Colbert Report

If G-d gave America an ultimatum that unless we executed 79 people every week a nuclear bomb would be dropped on every hospital in America, I would hope that the audience of The Daily Show and the Colbert Report be those 79 people. These are the audiences who laugh not because they find something to be funny, but to confirm that they are—and who can doubt it?—cool enough to “get” the joke. Stewart has become just another Obama PR person but Colbert used to be hilarious when he was just playing a silly guy rather than making fun of mythical conservatives.
